As a result of issues raised by foster children at the 2006 Candidate Forum, Child Advocacy and the Palm Beach County Coalition for Children "adopted" two foster group homes. We wanted to pull together our networks and bring as many support services and activities as possible into these homes. Some of our activities in one group home are listed below. All were specifically requested by the foster kids:

• a mentor for each foster youth
• birthday parties for each child
• dinners out at local restaurants
• outings, including bowling and picnics
• increase in clothing allowance
• jewelry making classes
• "angel tree" with gifts for the holidays

We are now asking the community to sponsor some items and activities not covered by the State. These include year books; prom tickets; and trips with athletic, civic or academic teams. For a complete list, click here. Please help make a difference in the lives of these wonderful children.
